The garage space in your home can tend to get messy most often and needs a decluttering and organizing process if you no longer can find your tools with ease nor have a safe parking space due to too many things jutting out in every corner.
Not only does it become a hectic place to work in when needed but it also becomes an unsafe one, especially if you have kids. A messy garage can also cause insects such as spiders and rats to build a home in the dark corners. All in all, it’s quite important to maintain the interior space and storage of your garage. This can however be a tedious task and requires much effort.

Getting Rid of the Clutter
You’re first step towards rearranging your garage is to start clearing off the dump and sorting out items accordingly. This would be the toughest step as sorting out heavy mess, especially ones with small things that need looking out for such as nails, nuts, bolts, etc, can be a time-consuming process. Depending on the size of your garage and the things that need cluttering, you may need at least a day or two. You could make this task much easier with the help of family and friends. Don’t forget to check every box, corner and cabinet.
Garage Items: Needed vs Not Needed
Once you start the decluttering process and start pulling and sorting things out, it’s so much easier to maintain piles such as a pile for what you need to keep, what you need to throw out, what you need to recycle or even items you want to donate or resell.
This helps you figure out the things you need to get rid of vs. the things you need. Always make sure you get rid of items that could be risky to have stored around for too long, chemicals that could ignite fumes and things that could grow moldy. In order to make this step a successful one, you need to be able to let go rather than hoard.
Proper Storage System
The very next step would be to ensure you have proper storage systems installed in order to place your tools and other garage items back in place neat and securely. There are various garage storage systems available such as cabinets, shelves, bins, etc, in order to help you arrange and reach out for the equipment easily when in need for use during repair and fixtures, car care moments or even projects you’re creating and working on.

Re-organizing the Space
Once you’ve got the equipment and tool sorted out into categories and storage systems in place all you need to do is bring them together and voila, your garage is as good as new. You can easily form separate sections and corners for each item such as hardware tools, car products, garden tools, etc. Make sure you have a handy work station too in order to be able to carry out your garage tasks.
Happy Cleaning!
